Excerpt from Americans fighting Nazis with Polish Partisans:

 “Everybody has gun and grenades,” Stefan said. “Here is the machine gun loaded, extra clips, grenades.”

 “I talked with some of our people,” Dieter said. “They think we’re safer here instead of running alone through the woods.”

“Maybe Nazi just wanted Magda’s body. She wants him and money, doesn’t tell,” Flora added.

Piotr scowled. “We not risk her not telling.”

“Do you think Nazis too busy running from Russians to bother us?” Tereza asked.

“If Magda tell Nazis we have Americans or Jews they come,” Piotr said. “They ship Jews from Oswiecim to Germany so they can kill more. Nazis have no sense when they want Jews. Now listen, if Nazis come they come with big trucks, many men. They have no way here except road. I do not believe they will sneak into farm through woods. They like big force. We have lookouts. Tell everyone to sleep with clothes, gun next to bed. If Nazis come on road we have time to scatter or fight here. We not kill many Nazis for long time, too much revenge. Now they are on run and will taste our bullets. Now go to bed, sleep and be ready. We meet at six. George, are keys in truck?”
